Chants and Songs

Over the years, I have written many songs and chants inspired by my work in the Avalonian Tradition. I am currently working on a project with several SOA sisters to compile a CD of the beautiful original music  which has come out of the Avalonian Tradition, created by many women.

As this project progresses, I would like to offer a few older recordings of some of my work. Most of these were recorded in 1999 - 2000 during a previous manifestation of this project. I hope you will enjoy these sharings and that they will facilitate your connection with the Holy Island. Your feedback is always welcome

If you like what you hear, for the sake of bandwidth, please download the mp3 file for your own use, rather than streaming the file. These chants and songs may be freely used and shared in a ritual context, but may not be re-recorded, re-distributed, or sold in any format. Please contact me for permissions information. Many thanks!

More to come...

The Middle Pillar

Music and Lyrics by Jhenah Telyndru

Performed by Jhenah Telyndru and Womynfolke, 2000

MP3

 Lyrics:

I am the Wind above the Tor
Whistling secrets past the gray stone
Touching harp strings, bearing song
I am the Breath of Inspiration
The Wind above the Tor
The Wind above the Tor

I am the Breath of Inspiration
The Wind above the Tor
The Wind above the Tor

I am the Lantern on the Tor
Lighting spirits, dancing circles
Spiral hilltop’s glowing beacon
I am the Flame of Transformation
The Lantern on the Tor
The Lantern on the Tor

I am the Breath of Inspiration
I am the Flame of Transformation
The Wind above the Tor
The Lantern on the Tor

I am the Well below the Tor
Souls’ reflections, mystic symbols
Silver mirror of the Moon
I am the Womb of Generation
The Well below the Tor
The Well below the Tor

I am the Breath of Inspiration
I am the Flame of Transformation
I am the Womb of Generation
The Wind above the Tor
The Lantern on the Tor
The Well below the Tor

I am the Breast of Mother Tor
Suckling Daughters, ever sturdy
From the Lady’s sacred body
I am the Root of all Creation
The Breast of Mother Tor
The Breast of Mother Tor

I am the Breath of Inspiration
I am the Flame of Transformation
I am the Womb of Generation
I am the Root of all Creation
The Wind above the Tor
The Lantern on the Tor
The Well below the Tor
The Breast of Mother Tor

Moonrise Prayer

Music and Lyrics by Jhenah Telyndru

Performed by Jhenah Telyndru

MP3

Lyrics:

With  my words, may I speak Your wisdom
With my deeds, may I serve You well
With my hands, may I offer healing
With my heart, of Your love I'll tell

With my voice, may I sing Your beauty
May my eyes, with truth's clearness see
May my soul, always walk in your light
Down freedom's path, my sisters with me

Rise Tor

Music and Lyrics by Jhenah Telyndru

Performed by  Womynfolke, 2000. Arrangement by Michelle Prettyman.

MP3

 Lyrics:

Rise Tor, Rise Tor
Rise in our hearts once again
Rise Tor, Rise Tor
Spin in the spiral without end

Dark caped and hooded, we circle around
Labyrinthine priestesses, making no sound
There on your breast, we call the Lady down
Under the face of the moon

Rise Tor, Rise Tor
Rise in our hearts once again
Rise Tor, Rise Tor
Spin in the spiral without end

Climb, My Sisters, Climb

Music and Lyrics by Jhenah Telyndru

Performed by  Jhenah Telyndru and Womynfolke, 2000

MP3

 Lyrics:

O, in that place of mist-cloaked mystery
Past blood-tinged spring and blooming apple tree
There lies a well-worn path which circles high
That hearts can see though no moon lights the sky

CHORUS:
So climb, my sisters, climb
To the top of your hill
To the depths of your soul
Where your dreams live on still
Yes climb, my sisters, climb
Let Her love be your guide
Down the path of your truth
To the beauty inside
That spiraled path will lead you deep within
Past pain and tears so rebirth can begin
Uproot old fears, confront them, set them free
Become the woman you were born to be

CHORUS

The road is steep and long and fraught with pain
The way turns dark and shadowed by the rain
But should you stumble off, She'll break your fall
And guide you back along with Her sure call

CHORUS

To know Her love and love Her in return
The easiest and hardest thing to learn
To love the face reflected in the well
To make a place inside for love to dwell

CHORUS

And when you reach the summit, you will see
That which this world has taught could never be
Your sisters climbing hard and reaching high
Their freedom won, their wings embrace the sky

CHORUS
