TriskeleAvalon Within: A Sacred Journey of Myth, Mystery and Inner Wisdom (Llewellyn 2010) is the first of several books Jhenah is writing about the Avalonian Tradition. Her writings about Goddess Spirituality and the Avalonian Tradition have been published in Avalonian journals, mainstream Pagan magazines such as PanGaia, The Beltane Papers and Circle Magazine, and are featured in the book Which Witch is Which? (New Page, 2004) by Trish Telesco. Along with Isaac Bonewits and R.J. Stewart, Jhenah was interviewed for Voices of Modern Druidry, the cover story for PanGaia magazine's special issue on Celtic Spirituality (Issue 42, Autumn 2005). Managing Editor and interviewer Elizabeth Barrett calls Jhenah "the mother of the Avalonian revival" and the scope of the piece helps place the Avalonian Tradition in the context of the modern Druidic movement.

Jhenah's work has expanded into other media as well. Her spoken word album Journeys to Avalon: Immrama to the Holy Isle is a perfect companion to Avalon Within and an invaluable tool for anyone who is called to Ynys Afallon. Jhenah is the creator of a unique system of trance journey postures keyed into the alchemical landscape energies of ancient Avalon; this tool for inner pilgrimage can be experienced on the beautiful instructional DVD Trancing the Inner Landscape: Avalonian Landscape Postures.

Avalon Within (book), Journeys to Avalon (CD), and Trancing the Inner Landscape (DVD) are three powerful companions -- ones which engage your body, mind, and spirit -- as you seek to discover the transformational energies of the Holy Island of Avalon in your life.

Avalon Within

A Sacred Journey of Myth, Mystery and Inner Wisdom

By Jhenah Telyndru

Llewellyn Publications, 2010

ISBN 9780738719979

Throughout the ages, the loom of Celtic Lore and Arthurian Legend has woven a subtle tapestry of symbol and allegory around the Priestess Path found at the heart of the enigmatic Island of Avalon. Drawing upon the vibrant powers of Glastonbury's Sacred Landscape and the rich heritage of Celtic British mythology, Avalon Within: A Sacred Journey of Myth, Mystery and Inner Wisdom parts the mists of distant memory to reveal a practical foundation in the Avalonian Tradition.

Avalon Within provides potent tools for growth and personal revelation to women who quest for the Holy Isle, offering guidance in using the journeying techniques of Immrama to enter the Sacred Landscape and connect with the archetypal realms of Avalon. Avalon Within presents accessible instruction for developing legendary Avalonian skills, such as the Sight and the art of Glamour, for use in healing the wounds of the soul and unlocking the wisdom of the Priestess Within.

Come walk the labyrinthine pathway of Glastonbury Tor, connect with the Goddesses of Avalon through myth and ritual, and release the potential of the Avalonian Cycle of Healing -- an effective paradigm of inner transformation found encoded in the initiatory symbolism of the Cauldron of Ceridwen. Part the mists of illusion, journey across the watery lake of the primal unconscious, and return home at last to the whole and Sovereign Self that awaits you at the core of your being -- the essence of Avalon Within.

The Scribing Ibis

An Anthology of Pagan Fiction in Honor of Thoth

Edited by Rebecca Buchanan and the Editorial Board of Bibliotheca Alexandrina

Bibliotheca Alexandrina, 2011

ISBN 1466223278

He was Creation’s First Storyteller. To soothe a wrathful Goddess, ibis-headed Thoth spun tales of honor and greed, love and treachery, Gods and princes and pirates. Entranced, charmed, Her rage cooled, the Goddess returned to heaven. Order was restored.

And so it is in His name that we dedicate this collection. Here, modern Pagans and polytheists continue that ancient tradition, weaving stories of creation and loss, death and rebirth, humor and courage, transformation and destruction. From the banks of the Nile to the icy north, from modern-day Kansas to far future alien worlds, these tales sing of the grace and glory of the Gods, and Their place in our lives.

Jhenah is honored to have her short story "The Gallisenae" included in this anthology, which will be used to help promote the revival of the worship of the ancient Gods, with a portion of the proceeds given to a worthy charitable organization in their name. Circle Magazine

Issue 106 - Fall 2010

In Sacred Breath, I share a snapshot of personal pilgrimage framed in a reflection on the liminal essence of Glastonbury Tor as it straddles the realms of what was, what is, and what may yet be. The three-dimensional labyrinth carved into the slopes of the Tor provide an apt metaphor for this inner journey, as well as a portal into the Otherworldly mysteries of Avalon herself.

Circle Magazine

Sacred Chalices

Issue 104 - Fall 2009

My article The Chalice and the Grail discusses the history of Chalice Well in addition to my own experiences with this transformational site. In 2000, I was privileged to have the opportunity to climb down into the emptied shaft of the Chalice Well. The experience of being in the Well chamber is one of my life’s defining moments, and in the article, I do my best to share some of the awe and beauty of that incredible journey into the heart of the Sacred Well.

The Beltane Papers

The Maiden's Mysteries

Issue 41 - Fall 2007

This beautiful issue of The Beltane Papers features She Lives In My Heart, a very personal account of the ways in which I share the Path of the Goddess with my young daughter -- and not always as the teacher.

Circle Magazine

Sacred Healing

This issue of Circle Magazine features The Keening -- my first person account of the spiritual healing powers of this ancient Celtic ritual of mourning.

Celtic Spirituality

The Tor Stone

A Journey through the Mists

The Tor Stone is a Quarterly Journal of Women's Mysteries published by the Sisterhood of Avalon. Jhenah's writing has appeared in many issues of the journal, including her ongoing column To Part the Mists, and a multi-part exploration of Avalonian Sacred Sites.

What people are saying about Avalon Within:
"Reading of Avalon, of her Goddesses, her priestesses, awakens the desire to know again the ancient mysteries. Jhenah Telyndru interweaves her careful Celtic scholarship with illumination born of having guided many, many women through the mists that had hidden from them their birthright. This is both a reference book and a sacred resource, a well of information and of inspiration." - Rev. Elizabeth Davenport, Ph.D.

"That's the real appeal of Avalon Within. It’s not another Celtislush book that some writer cranked out to put beans on the table. It is the culmination of well over a decade of concerted effort, research, and ritual by Jhenah herself and many other women, past and present. It weaves together the threads and tag ends of Celtic women’s spirituality into a whole tapestry, something at once old and new, individual and universal. It beckons you to do what you’ve always wanted, to step into the mists and follow your heart. So go ahead, You won’t be disappointed" - Elizabeth Barrette, Managing Editor of SageWoman and author of Composing Magic.

"As a university professor who does a lot of reading I consider this book to be a gem. It is an excellent book that I have read over and over. Avalon Within is a road map for following spiritual aspects of the Celtic year, with particular reference to the Goddesses of the Mabinogion and ancient traditions of the peoples that inhabited England, particularly what is now Wales and Cornwall" - S.L. Crowell Davis, Ph.D, DVM

"The Arthurian legends, dense with symbols evocative to western minds, like the search for the Holy Grail, are perhaps the greatest story of indigenous European mythology; they have been told and retold through the centuries, in our time fascinating creative scholars like Carl Jung, Marion Zimmer Bradley, and Joseph Campbell. In Avalon Within, Jhenah Telyndru, continues this tradition, traversing the borders of depth psychology and spiritual formation to provide the practices and theoretical formulations which can empower women whose hearts have been awakened by the archetypal pattern of the ancient Priestesses of Avalon." - Anne Benvenuti, Ph.D.
